Don't let your backcountry end up looking like this.
The Mission of the POC Fund is to stop the
Powerlink and at the same time help San Diego County achieve its long-term
goal of local power generation and distribution of renewable and clean
energy.
The “Protect Our Communities Fund” was recently established
by a group of local landowners and Communities United for Sensible Power
(CUSP) to mount a major campaign to defeat SDG&E’s proposed
transmission line, the “Sunrise Powerlink”.
“Our goal is to raise $1.5 million dollars in
2007 and we have been fortunate to secure over the first $600k in just
a few short months. This shows the deep concern felt throughout the
region,” said Michael Pinto, the fund’s co-chair.
Funds raised will be used for legal representation, technical support,
and focused community outreach and advocacy. Managing the fund are backcountry
residents, Michael Pinto and Denis Trafecanty. They also chair the
Fundraising Committee and are each major donors.
“If this line is approved, it will be a travesty
for all of San Diego,” Katy Moretti, owner of Eagle Peak Escrow
in Ramona. “We all need to support this Fund with as much money
as we can afford. Every individual donation counts.”
Create a better
energy future.
